GIS Analyst
GIS ANALYST
The
City of Cedar Falls Planning and Community Services
division is seeking a GIS Analyst. This position will perform
professional level work responsible for supervising, developing, using, and
maintaining the City’s Geographic Information System, and coordinating these
duties with other City departments, City project partners, other governmental
groups, and private sector businesses. The individual will analyze, maintain, and provide training on specialized GIS
data systems, procedures, applications, and data solutions that support and
improve situational awareness, and City business processes and staff
efficiencies. The Analyst may attend meetings for and present to various
groups, commissions and City Council. Position receives direction from
the Planning and Community Services Manager, may receive supervision/guidance
from the Information Systems Manager and City Engineer, and exercise functional
and technical supervision related to the use and maintenance of GIS.
This position requires a self-motivated, technically and
analytically competent candidate with strong communication skills that is able
to work with various individuals. The position may involve attendance at
evening meetings and field work; therefore, the successful candidate must be
flexible in their scheduling.
Experience
and education requirements: 2-5 years of direct/active and relevant GIS
software suite and extensions experience, as well as experience working and
configuring global positioning systems. Bachelor’s degree or higher in
GIS, Geography, Surveying, Engineering, Urban Planning, or related
fields. Specialization in GIS coursework or GIS certificate is highly
preferable. In lieu of a Bachelor’s
degree, an Associate’s degree in a course of study specified above is
acceptable with a GIS certificate and 5 years of direct/active and
relevant GIS software suite and extensions experience, as well as experience
working and configuring global positioning systems. At either degree
level, experience through internships may be
considered. GISP certification is preferred, and possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid
driver’s license is required.
Salary
range based on qualifications and experience: $53,774-81,864. Completion
of a questionnaire and forwarding official transcripts will be required after
a list of qualified applicants is approved by the City’s Civil Service
Commission. Interviews will later follow with selected candidates from
the certified list. A post-offer,
pre-employment physical and drug screen will be required.

seeking a full-time GIS Analyst for our Muscatine, IA office. The ideal
candidate will have minimum 3 years of experience with utility infrastructure
mapping using GIS with secondary experience in water resources, drainage, and
transportation.

Essential duties include:
- Manage project geo-databases, mapping, analysis and reporting

- Utilize image processing software
- Prepare reports and technical presentations

Required qualifications:
- Must be proficient with ESRI ArcGIS software

Preferred qualifications:
