Applications are currently being accepted for the position of a GIS Technician. This full-time position is located within the IT Department in the Courthouse in Hampton, Iowa. The successful candidate must be reliable, responsible, and be able to work independently with little or no supervision. The ability to effectively communicate and present information to county officials, employees, and the general public is vital.

Duties
This position will assist with the maintenance and growth of the county-wide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program. Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Maintaining
existing GIS data projects
· Providing GIS
training and technical support
· Assisting with
maintenance of county website
· Data analysis
· Map design and
creation
· Working with
county departments and public

Knowledge
· GIS software,
especially ArcGIS Desktop products
· Excellent computer
skills
· Experience with
word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
Education/Experience
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field, or a minimum of 2-3 years related on-the-job experience using GIS and mapping software and technology or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Salary/Benefits
The salary range for this position is $30,000 to $50,000, commensurate with experience. Franklin County offers a complete benefits package, which includes insurance, vacation and sick leave.
