Position Announcement
The City of Clive, Iowa
seeks a GIS Intern for the fall and spring of 2016/2017. This position offers valuable exposure to a
variety of GIS, utility infrastructure management, and planning activities. In this role, the intern will perform various
duties that include but are not limited to: preparing, creating and editing GIS
data; interpreting site plans and engineering documents; gathering data in the
field via GPS systems; developing GIS data utilizing data editing techniques;
and exercising critical thinking to accomplish project goals.
The GIS intern position is funded for approximately 30-40
hours per week during the fall and spring semester at a rate of pay of $12.20
per hour. The position also has the ability to be extended into the summer
break if desired.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with basic GIS
principles and ESRI GIS software (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, etc); is able to work
independently; is a self starter, and a quick learner. Working knowledge of GPS equipment and a basic
understanding of utility systems is desirable.
